Helia EHS started as a small group of environmental consultants and waste operators who kept watching the same handoff fail: a classification report would land, and then nobody owned what happened to the material next. We built Helia to close that gap — one team, one point of accountability, from the first stockpile to the final docket.

From site supervisors to programme owners

Helia EHS grew out of fieldwork, not a boardroom. Every stage below reflects a real gap we ran into on-site — and built a discipline to close.

Year 2022

Started as EHS field consultants

Our founders were contract environmental consultants sampling stockpiles for manufacturers. The work was accurate, but it stopped at the report — what happened to the material afterward was someone else's problem.

Year 2023

Took on segregation and supervision

Clients kept asking us to stay on-site past the sampling stage. We began directing segregation ourselves, which is when recovery rates actually started to move.

Year 2024

Brought cartage in-house

Losing track of a load between the stockpile and the receiving facility was the last weak link. We formed relationships with truck captains and float operators so the chain of custody never left our hands.

Year 2025

Opened trans-Tasman delivery

A manufacturing client asked us to replicate the model at their New Zealand site. We built the programme to run under both Australian State EPA and NZ waste-management frameworks without diluting the standard.

Segregation happens before testing, not after

Blending material first and testing later hides contamination. We hold stockpiles separate from the moment they're created so every test result means something.

A classification is never just asserted

Every result is backed by a lab report or field screening data an auditor can trace back to a specific stockpile, not a verbal call made on-site.

One team runs supervision, testing and cartage

We don't hand a programme off between subcontractors mid-stream. The people who classify the material are accountable for where it ends up.
